About the
Lemonade Bears Benefit
In July, 2000,
a four year old cancer patient named Alexandra "Alex" Scott announced a
seemingly simple idea -she was holding a lemonade stand to raise money to help
"her doctors" find a cure for kids with cancer. The idea was put into action by
Alex and her older brother, Patrick, when they set up the first "Alex's Lemonade
Stand for pediatric cancer" on their front lawn.
From this simple idea, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation evolved into a
nationwide fundraising movement for childhood cancer.

How Do I Participate
as a Buyer?
All bears
donated to the Lemonade Bears Benefit will be auctioned on
www.bid4bears.com on the following dates:
- September
19 -21, 2008
- All auctions are 3 day listings.
The money
collected is paid directly to the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation via PayPal. Shipping costs will be refunded
to the artist.
Anyone is
welcome to bid on the bears, but you must register on the Bid 4 Bears site
to place a bid. Registration is free. By placing a bid, the user
enters into a legal contract and agrees to pay the amount bid in the event
that it is the highest, winning bid at the end of the auction.

How Do I Participate
as an Artist?
Fill in
the registration form. In order to keep the challenge organized, we
ask that participants fill out the registration form located in the
navigation bar on the left. We will then post
the names of the participating bear makers on this web site. This will
allow collectors to eagerly anticipate the finished creations of their
favorite artists.
Make
Your Bear.

Your
bear can be dressed or undressed.

You
can use any material for your bear.

There are two periods during which the benefit takes
place. Bears must be listed to sell during these dates.

Photograph the Bear. For best results, photograph your bear
vertically whenever possible. Make your bear the center of attention by
avoiding distractions in the background. A plain, solid colored
background works best. For best results on the internet, photos should
be 72 dpi and 400 pixels wide. Need to learn more? Check out the
tutorial listed under Helpful Information. Periodic emails
will be sent to participants advising them of deadlines and other
important information. Please ensure that your email program is
set to receive mail from
bears135@shaw.ca so that these announcements don't go into the spam
or trash folders. All photos MUST be received by the deadlines
specified in order to be added to any news mailings and this website.
Submit
Photos for the Galleries.
Photos can be submitted as
an
email
attachment to the Lemonade
Bears Webmaster. Please include your name, and the name of the
bear in the body of your email. Further descriptions of the
bear are not needed.
By
submitting your photo, you agree to the allow the publication of your
photos and information on all internet sites and publications involved
with the 'Lemonade Bears' Benefit for the purpose of advertising and
promoting the Benefit.
Sell
Your Bear. Participants will be contacted by email as the deadline
for completion of the bears approaches. More information regarding
How to auction the bears on Bid 4 Bears is included under the
Helpful Information Link.
A Lemonade Bears account has been set up there where you can list your
bear without incurring any fees. The money collected is paid directly to
the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation via PayPal. Shipping costs
will be refunded to the artist.
